A man entered a Citizens Bank in Detroit on Monday and robbed it at gunpoint. A customer who was carrying concealed made sure he didn’t get away with it.

As he was on his way out, the robber made the mistake of threatening the 60-year-old customer, Ruben Kendrick, with his firearm. He was able to pull his concealed handgun and fired at the robber three times.

The three gunshots to his arms and leg were not fatal, but were enough to leave him bloody on the sidewalk near the bank.

Law enforcement took it from there, arresting the robber and recovering the money, $11,000 in stolen bills. The robber, Henry Mann, turned out to be long-time violent criminal, with convictions for second-degree murder and assault in his recent past.

The incident should be a reminder to those planning armed robberies, since more and more people are carrying concealed every day. They’re trained and ready to use force when their lives are threatened.

Life-threatening incidents like this one occur every day, and concealed carry is meant to protect honest citizens.

Carrying concealed, especially in public places like banks, is necessary but also requires training and a calm demeanor. Use caution and only use your firearm if you feel that your life is in danger.

Train regularly to be sure that your draw is efficient and you can be accurate in a crowded place.
