It seems certain that a bill will pass in Texas making there no fee to get a Texas concealed carry license. SB 16 is likely to pass the upcoming session and the bill would remove the $140 non-refundable application and license fee for Texas concealed carry.

The measure was promoted by Texas Republicans, Senator Joan Huffman and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Senator Robert Nichols. The purpose of the measure is to remove the barriers of cost to Texas citizens so that people of all income levels can access this vital option for personal protection. If the measure passes it will go into effect September 1, 2017.
