A Detroit man defended himself with his concealed handgun yesterday when an armed teen tried to rob him.

Joe Lanier was on the job as an exterminator when the 17-year-old thief tried to steal his sunglasses. He was legally carrying concealed and after seeing the thief’s gun pointed at him, felt that his life was in danger.

He fired his gun several times from the driver’s seat until he felt the threat was gone. He then called 911 to report the incident and informed police.

His mother, who is a concealed carry instructor and carries concealed herself, reported that she was glad it wasn’t her son who ended up in the hospital.

She taught her son how to carry a gun responsibly and it paid off in this incident.

This incident helps remind us that armed robberies can happen any time and concealed carry requires situational awareness and practice for any scenario.
