Two armed criminals in Milwaukee were looking for trouble about 10pm. They thought a man out walking his dog would make an easy target. They were wrong!

The 36-year-old man who was walking his dog has a concealed carry permit. He shot the two men who tried to rob him, killing one and wounding the other. Deonte Thomas, 17, was killed. His 18-year-old companion was wounded. The police officer who spoke to the media said these kids were “looking for trouble” and had been involved with other incidents prior to this one. The Police Sergeant said he believes the two may have been responsible for an armed robbery that took place in the same neighborhood about an hour before this incident.

Of course, the robbers never know who is going to be armed and who isn’t when they are picking who to victimize. If you’re armed and you’re trained on how to use your gun, you definitely level this playing field. These two would-be robbers got more than they bargained for. No details were released on the type of handgun the carrier had. The man stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The 18-year-old is facing charges of armed robbery and homicide.

Ever wonder what you need to do if you fire your gun in self-defense? Here’s a good article that outlines the basic steps to follow after a shooting incident.
