Sunday’s service was ending when a man attacked a pastor and parishioners with a hammer and a brick. The Detroit pastor defended himself and others when he drew his concealed handgun and fired several shots at the attacker.

You can find news video on the attack below.

There had been a history with the attacker, and the pastor had filed reports of threats in the recent past. The 25-year-old man has a history of threatening both the pastor and the congregation.

When he entered the church last Sunday, determined to threaten and harm the pastor and others with weapons, he found a pastor armed to defend his life.

After shooting, the attacker was pronounced dead at a local Detroit medical center. The pastor was investigated, but has not been arrested or charged.

This incident illustrates an issue that has been coming to light in events over the past year. Places that were once thought of as safe and undisturbed by danger are now under threat, possibly by those who think that they’ll encounter no resistance.

It’s clear that individuals intent on attacking and harming others do not observe the same practices as most, and don’t care what goes on inside the doors of churches and schools.

Concealed carry is on the rise, and more and more attackers are finding out that people are trained and ready to defend themselves and others.
