Finally, Obtainable 10mm Power In a 1911

I know what you’re thinking. I would be thinking the exact same thing if I saw that headline on an article in my feed.

The Colt Delta Elite has been in production forever. And many small production 1911 specialists such as Wilson, Nighthawk or Les Baer make unbelievably nice 1911s in 10mm.

So what’s my point? All those custom houses and more that I haven’t mentioned make beautiful, hand-finished, very expensive guns that cost anywhere from $2,500 to $5k depending on the set up. The Colt Delta has been on my list forever and after years of looking I’ve seldom seen them in the shops. I’ve seen them a few times at shows, but it seems like the handgun production at Colt is down to a trickle.

In fact I’ve never seen a new one in the case at my favorite shop. As for the fabled Bren 10, good luck my friend! That’s something you find at an auction where the entrance fee is generally more than I like to pay for my beloved Russian surplus guns. So a great solution might be at hand.

Ruger just added a stainless 10mm version to their rugged and reliable SR1911 line. It lists for $1019.00 on the website. That’s not cheap but it’s nothing like custom house prices and you know it’ll be less than that when it hits the shops. Colonel Cooper was instrumental in developing this round because he wanted more punch out of arguably the world’s most-loved semi auto pistol.

They originally mocked up a modified CZ 75 to handle the power. What they discovered was a handgun with defensive and military capabilities that can not be taken lightly. A well trained operator with 10mm is a formidable force.

I haven’t shot the Ruger yet but I have high hopes. I’ll get back to you when I do with the story.
