What’s going on with Sig Sauer?
Don’t you hate it when a company that you always felt you could trust starts to go south? Sig Sauer is making too many things now — from silencers to ammo to BB guns, everything. And, many of the products are no longer made in Germany. So, things have changed. The frequency of the recent recalls related to Sig Sauer products like the P320 pistol and the lawsuits by state governments over what they claim is faulty pistols like the P229 Legacy pistols have slowly started making people question the reliability of the company.
Now here’s another recall. According to the company’s statement, Sig Sauer has determined that a limited number of rifles in the Sig716 DMR, Sig516 Carbon Fiber and SigM400 Predator models may have an improperly heat-treated hammer. Over this, this could result in a trigger malfunction that could create a significant safety hazard.
Sig Sauer is issuing a mandatory recall to replace the hammer and trigger assembly in these specific rifles and will correct any of the affected firearms at no cost to the customer. You can tell the firearms affected by the recall by the presence of the Sig mark etched into the hammer as in this image.

Overall I’ve been happy with my Sig guns. I just sold my Sig 551A1 rifle, not because of any performance issue, and I loved it. My good friend has Sigs and he loves them too. But it seems like things with the company are changing. What do you think?
