A law to pass gun legislation in North Carolina making permitless carry legal has passed another hurdle. The House voted by 64-51 to pass House Bill 746. The bill would make several changes to North Carolina gun laws to allow most people to not have to apply for a permit to carry a concealed handgun.

It is unknown at this point if the Senate passes it, how North Carolina’s governor will handle it. He may veto it, and the House may be unable to turn over the veto, analysts say. North Carolina’s governor, Roy Cooper, is a Democrat.

House Bill 746 would allow people to carry a concealed weapon with out a permit in the same places where they are currently legally allowed to carry openly. Only people 18 years and older and with no other issues preventing them from carrying a weapon would be allowed to. Open carry is legal throughout North Carolina with some restrictions on size. We’ll keep you posted as this progresses.
