When it comes to celebrities and musicians, we usually think of those pushing for tighter gun control measures. These often tend to be the most outspoken ones that we hear about. But a few superstars have actually come forward in support of gun ownership. The list might surprise you.
David Spade
Comedian and actor David Spade grew up in the Arizona desert, the product of a hard-working single mother. He isn’t shy about telling stories of shooting at cactus, rattlesnakes and birds to pass the time as a kid with his brothers.
Eric Clapton
British rocker Eric Clapton is known worldwide for his work with Yardbirds, Cream and as a solo artist. He publicly opposed the Labour Party’s ban on fox hunting and has been an obsessed collector of antique and ornate rifles. Though not a hunter himself, he is fan of sport shooting.
Angelina Jolie
She’s been seen wielding guns onscreen for decades now, but this actress has also stated she has no qualms about keeping a loaded handgun in the house to protect her family.
Ice T
Though often an outspoken liberal, rapper and actor Ice T has said that the right to bear arms is the last defense against tyranny. He isn’t giving up his guns any time soon.
Alton Brown
Food Network host Alton Brown is an unabashed Second Amendment advocate. He carries concealed regularly and is a proponent of home-defense. His love of guns began as a youngster watching James Bond movies.
Joe Perry
Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry says he’s always had a fascination with weapons, which translated into an affinity for guns. As his fortune has grown, so has his collection.
James Hetfield
Metallica’s James Hetfield credits his father with his gun habit. He curates a collection and says he treats them with much care. Another ardent supporter of The Second Amendment, Hetfield also says some gun laws just don’t make too much sense to him.
